The value and importance of asking Allah for forgiveness
Asking for forgiveness is a great blessing from Allah’s blessings upon all His servants so that they do not despair of His’s mercy because all the sins and transgressions committed by His worshipers can be forgiven by only asking his forgiveness. Allah’s mercy encompasses everything, and the prophets sought forgiveness from Allah on many occasions until Allah was pleased with them, and Moses, peace be upon him, said (He said, “My Lord, I have wronged myself, so forgive me, so He forgave him. Indeed, He is the Forgiving, the Merciful).”
How to ask Allah for forgiveness?

This Dua is called Sayed Alistghfar and it’s (allhmm ‘ant rabbi la ‘iilah ‘iilaa ‘anta, khalaqtani wa’ana eabduka, wa’ana ealaa eahdik wawaedik ma astataetu, ‘aeudh bik min sharr ma sanaetu, ‘abu’ lak biniematik ealaya, wa’abu’ lak bidhanbi, faghfir li; fa’innah la yaghfir aldhdhunub ‘iilaa ‘anta).
“O Allah, you are my Lord, there is no god but You, You created me and I am Your servant, and I abide by Your covenant and promise as much as I can, I seek refuge in You from the evil of what I have done, I acknowledge Your grace upon me and I acknowledge my sin to You, so forgive me, for none forgives sins except You.
In Arabic, اللهمَّ أَنْتَ رَبِّي لا إِلَهَ إلا أَنْتَ، خَلَقْتَنِي وَأَنَا عَبْدُكَ، وَأَنَا عَلَى عَهْدِكَ وَوَعْدِكَ مَا اسْتَطَعْتُ، أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ شَرِّ مَا صَنَعْتُ، أَبُوءُ لَكَ بِنِعْمَتِكَ عَلَيَّ، وَأَبُوءُ لَكَ بِذَنْبِي، فَاغْفِرْ لِي؛ فَإِنَّهُ لا يَغْفِرُ الذُّنُوبَ إلا أَنْتَ.
