What is Dua?

Dua is one of the best acts of worship that we can perform to Allah. It is the request for what benefits the supplicant, and the disclosure of what is harmful to him or repelling it.

Guidance to the straight path in Islam meaning

Muslims plead to be guided to the straight path at least seventeen times a day due to the obligation of reciting surat al-Fatiha (Qur’an 1) in salah (the 5 daily prayers). How many of us have reflected on the nature of this guidance and the path that we are supposed to be upon?

This Aya in Sura Alfatiha might mean more than one meaning.

One of its meanings is seeking guidance to the devotion and worship that should be exhibited in every circumstance.

You can easily see that we ask Allah to guide us so many times a day.

This is one of the blessings of Allah he makes us recite this to be guided to him SWT.

Dua For Guidance To The Right Path and Taqua

  • (اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ الْهُدَى، وَالتُّقَى، وَالْعَفَافَ، وَالْغِنَى) Allahumma inni as’alukal-huda wat- tuqa wal-‘afafa wal-ghina
  • (رَبَّنَا لَا تُزِغْ قُلُوبَنَا بَعْدَ إِذْ هَدَيْتَنَا وَهَبْ لَنَا مِنْ لَدُنْكَ رَحْمَةً إِنَّكَ أَنْتَ الْوَهَّابُ) Rabbana la tuzigh quloobana ba’da idh hadaitana wa hab lana milladunka rahmah innaka antal Wahhab.
  • (يَا مُقَلِّبَ الْقُلُوبِ ثَبِّتْ قَلْبِي عَلَى دِينِكَ) ya muqallib alquloob, thabbit qalbi ala deenik
  • The prophet said to Mu’awiyah: اللَّهُمَّ اجْعَلْهُ هَادِيًا مَهْدِيًّا وَاهْدِ بِهِ
  • اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ مِنَ الْخَيْرِ كُلِّهِ عَاجِلِهِ وَآجِلِهِ ، مَا عَلِمْتُ مِنْهُ وَمَا لَمْ أَعْلَمْ ، وَأَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنَ الشَّرِّ كُلِّهِ عَاجِلِهِ وَآجِلِهِ ، مَا عَلِمْتُ مِنْهُ وَمَا لَمْ أَعْلَمْ ، اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ مِنْ خَيْرِ مَا سَأَلَكَ عَبْدُكَ وَنَبِيُّكَ ، وَأَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ شَرِّ مَا عَاذَ بِهِ عَبْدُكَ وَنَبِيُّكَ ، اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ الْجَنَّةَ وَمَا قَرَّبَ إِلَيْهَا مِنْ قَوْلٍ أَوْ عَمَلٍ ، وَأَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنَ النَّارِ وَمَا قَرَّبَ إِلَيْهَا مِنْ قَوْلٍ أَوْ عَمَلٍ ، وَأَسْأَلُكَ أَنْ تَجْعَلَ كُلَّ قَضَاءٍ قَضَيْتَهُ لِي خَيْرًا Listen
  • The prophet stroked Jarir on the chest with his hand and said  اللَّهُمَّ ثَبِّتْهُ وَاجْعَلْهُ هَادِيًا مَهْدِيًّا
  • Ali (رضي الله عنه)  reported: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said to me, Recite: اللَّهُمَّ اهْدِني ، وسَدِّدْنِي ‘Allaahummah-dinee wa saddidnee’ (O Allah! Guide me and grant me success)
  • Another narration of the last Hadith is: اللَّهمَّ إنِّي أسْألُكَ الهُدَى والسَّدَادَ ‘Allahumma inni as’aluk-al-huda was-sadad’ (O Allah! Verily, I ask You for al-Hudā [right guidance] and as Sadād [success])
